Dr. Harris Ahmed is an Ivy League–trained vitreoretinal surgeon specializing in the diagnosis and surgical management of complex retinal diseases. He completed his ophthalmology residency at Loma Linda University and has a strong background in public health and health policy.
Dr. Ahmed also specializes in advanced retinal surgery, vitreous floater evaluation and removal procedures, and complex secondary lens surgery, including scleral-fixated IOL placement and complex IOL bag rescue procedures, providing advanced care for patients with challenging retinal and lens conditions.
He is a national leader in physician advocacy, holding roles with organizations such as the AMA, AOA, and AOCOOHNS, with a focus on healthcare access, physician workforce distribution, and medical education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and served on the Board of Trustees for the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
